Prenatal Education classes cover all aspects of childbirth, including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and classes for siblings.
Early Pregnancy: You want to be in the best shape you can for welcoming a new baby. This two-hour class will teach you the basics of nutrition, exercise, prenatal care, pregnancy discomforts, fetal development and much more. Recommended during your first trimester.
Prepared Childbirth: What is childbirth going to be like? This 2 ½ hour 4-session class will cover more in-depth childbirth topics, including: anatomy and physiology, stages of labor, breathing and relaxation techniques, medication options, c-section vs. vaginal delivery, post partum recovery. We’ll also take you on a tour of the Labor and Delivery unit, Nursery and the Mother-Baby unit. Sign up to take this class in your 7th or 8th month of pregnancy.
Breastfeeding: Wise Health System offers the Wise Moms Breastfeeding Network for moms who have or are currently breastfeeding or providing expressed breast milk for their child. Expectant moms who are planning to breastfeed also are welcome. Free to the public and no RSVP required. Refreshments provided. Free infant weight checks are also offered.
Refresher Class: “Been there, Done That.” For parents welcoming baby number two, three, four or more! A single session, 3 hour class to help you brush up on things you might have forgotten since your last delivery. Offered quarterly.
Sibling Class: For children 3 and older who are expecting a new baby brother or sister. This class will help prepare them for the new arrival. We’ll teach them about how to be a great big brother or sister, what to expect, how newborns act and how they can help mom and dad. Suggested 1-2 months prior to delivery.
