Wise Health System is proud to announce that Jason Wren, has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1. Jason was selected by the Board of Directors after a nationwide search of candidates. Jason has served as Vice-President of Corporate and Legal Services/General Counsel at Wise Health System since May 2013.

Jason has proven himself to be a strong leader, not only as a key member of our executive team here at Wise Health System, but with the community at large,” said Board President Andrew Sandford. “We are confident that Jason will be an outstanding leader for our health system going forward.”
Jason brings a wide breadth of experience and passion to his new role. In the nearly four years Jason has been with Wise Health System he has had responsibility for contract negotiation and development, risk management, legislative and regulatory compliance, and has provided general legal counseling for hospital departments and personnel. Additionally, Jason has had oversight and supervision of corporate and legal services, including Human Resources, Marketing, Legal, Customer Service, Facilities, and Physician Relations/Quality Management departments.
Wren graduated from Decatur High School in 1993, earned a BS in business administration from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1997 and received his law degree from the University of Texas in 2000. He received his Masters of Business Administration in Health Services Management from the University of North Texas in 2016, where he was also awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student for the department.
He spent several years in private practice in Washington, D.C. and Dallas and ran the Decatur office of Walters Balido & Crain, a Dallas-based law firm, for six years prior to joining Wise Health System. Formerly a Decatur City Council member, Wren currently serves as president of the Decatur Economic Development Corp., and is a member of several community service organizations. He and his wife, Jennifer have three children.
Wren will succeed outgoing CEO Steve Summers, who served the organization for 25 years and announced his retirement from Wise Health System in May 2016.
