For 19 years in a row, Americans have rated nurses as the #1 most ethical and honest profession, according to the Gallup poll. One of my favorite definitions of a nurse reads “Nurses help people and their families cope with illness, deal with it, and if necessary live with it, so that other parts of their lives can continue. Nurses do more than care for individuals. They have always been at the forefront of change in healthcare and public health”. Nursing is an honor and a privilege. The small acts of caring we provide impact our patients and families every day.
I have been a registered nurse for nearing three decades and I am proud to be a member of the nursing team at Wise Health System. We have an amazing group of nurses and nurse leaders. Each year nurses show great resiliency while continuing to deliver compassionate and innovative care to our community and patients.
In 2021, we will continue to carry out our mission of promoting nursing excellence. I look forward to our Pathway to Excellence journey and all that it will bring to our patients, nurses and overall organization. Our founder of Modern Nursing Florence Nightingale stated, “Nursing is a progressive art such that to stand still is to go backward”.
